Xander’s Broken Leg & 36 Weeks

A lot has been happening here in the last few weeks.  On April 7th I had an awesome baby shower hosted by Aunt Laura, Ariel, and Grandma McCoy.  It was so much fun and we were overwhelmed by all the gifts from everyone.  Then last Tuesday while Xander was at school he fell while on the playground and broke his leg.  He has a spiral fracture on his left leg just above his ankle.  He has been such a trooper during all of this and we are so proud of him.  He was in a splint for a few days and then on Friday he got his red cast put on.  It’s a full leg cast and will be on for 4 weeks.  He’s not allowed to walk with this cast however, he is finding lots of ways to get around and his stroller is a life saver for us.  In 4 weeks they will recheck the leg and if it’s healed the cast stays off.  If it’s still healing he’ll get a smaller walking cast put on for a few more weeks.  Check out a few pictures of Xander from the last week:

Napping on the couch so Mama doesn't have to carry him up the stairs.

Xander and his 2 penguins all have a cast!

I am now 36 weeks and doing well.  I had a little experience  just over a week ago with some false labor.  It took me a little while to realize that is what it was but once I took a break on the couch  for a while the contracts stopped.  On Saturday I also had a bunch of contracts but nothing I could time so I didn’t really worry about it.  Well it looks like all these “practice” contractions were doing something because I found out today that I was already 1- 2 cm dilated.   The doctor explained that it could still be weeks before she arrives and she guessed that they would see me at the doctors office next week and not the hospital but you never know.  I am now far enough along that they will not stop labor if it happens so she said to be ready to go whenever it happens :)  Patrick and I are for the most part ready.  We finished up the last of the baby shopping yesterday and packed our bags for the hospital.   So now we just wait and see!    Here is the new belly shot :)
