Dossier to China!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today is the day!  Our agency has approved our Dossier and it is being sent out to China today.   When I spoke with Betty, our adoption coordinator, she said that the CCAA will log us into their system as soon as they get the Dossier and then we can begin our wait for LOA.  She also said that it may take a month or so to hear what our LID (log in date) is but we shouldn’t worry about it and when she knows it she will pass that information on to us.

YAY!!!  The paper chase is officially over!

Dossier Complete!

Sitting on my dinning room table is one complete dossier ready to send to my agency 1st thing in the morning.  Yay!!!!!  We had a slight hang up this week so we were unable to get our dossier to China this week but it will be heading to China for sure next week :)  In case you were wondering what a dossier looks like, well here is ours…

Our dossier contains 14 documents that have gone through the certification process.  Pictures of us and our house.  Two passport photos for Patrick and me.  A copy of our passport photos.  Our certificates of completion for our adoption classes along with a special needs and China adoption laws workbook for both Patrick and I.

When our agency gets our dossier next week it will go through a 2 person review to make sure everything looks good.  As long as it passes the review they will send it to China later in the week.  The next thing we will be waiting for is our LID which stands for our Log In Date.  This will be the date that China officially logs us into their data base as having a dossier to them.  Our agency says that most families travel to get their child 5 to 6 months from that date :)  Once we have our LID we’ll be waiting for our LOA, Letter of Acceptance from China.  The LOA is the letter that states that China has reviewed all our information and they are formally accepting us to be the adoptive parents of Xander.  It can take up to 4 months to receive your LOA after your LID, but right now it looks like many families are getting their LOA’s about 45 days after LID.

It feels so great to have this great paper chase done!  However, now comes the much harder part of the process… waiting.  I ask for prayers for patience for me as we wait and for Xander and his foster family that they stay safe and healthy in the time of waiting.

Approved!!!!!!

We got our approval today in the mail from the USCIS for our I800a.  We now officially have provisional approval to bring a male or female child ages 0-3 from China into the county that has any of the special needs that are included in our home study.  The approval was granted to us on 3/7 which was 56 days from when they received our application.  I’m hoping that’s the longest wait we have for the rest of our adoption steps :)

As soon as I got our approval today I made a copy of it and went to the bank to have it notarized.  Then I headed down the the Clerk of Courts and had it notary certified.  Tomorrow morning I’ll be heading back up to Columbus to have the Sectary of State put their seal on it and then I’ll drop it off in the mail to our courier in Washington D.C.   My hope is that it will go through both the Sectary of State and the Chinese Embassy on Monday (we’re using same day services) and that we’ll then get it back in the mail on Tuesday.  That way I can then drive it to our agency on Wednesday and if everything looks good it will be on it’s way to China on Friday!

On a side note…

I had emailed our USCIS officer last Friday and she said that she was reviewing our file and would finish with it on Monday morning.  So all week I knew this approval was coming and I have to admit that yesterday and today I kinda felt like I was stalking the mailman.  Once 11:30 rolled around I would just wait and listen for him to come and hope our approval was there.  I felt stupid doing it but at the same time I really wanted that approval and didn’t want to waste anytime getting the next steps started.  It’s kind of crazy what this process will do to you at times :)
